HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 Power Supplies

Power Supply Overview

The HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 uses HPE Flexible Slot power supplies with options ranging from 500W through 2200W. The QuickSpecs list Platinum and Titanium AC power supplies as well as a 1600W -48VDC option.

HPE Flex Slot power supplies share a common electrical and physical design and support hot-plug, tool-less installation. HPE provides multiple output capacities so the power supply can be sized for the specific server configuration.

A DL360 Gen11 configuration can contain one or two power supplies. When two power supplies are installed, HPE does not support mixing two different power supply models.

Supported Power Supplies

The DL360 Gen11 QuickSpecs list the following Flex Slot power supply options.

Power Supply Comparison

HPE lists Platinum power supplies at 94% efficiency and Titanium power supplies at 96% efficiency in the Standard Features section. The -48VDC option is intended for supported DC power environments.

500W Platinum Power Supply

The HPE 500W Flex Slot Platinum Hot Plug Low Halogen Power Supply Kit 865408-B21 is the lowest-wattage power supply listed for the DL360 Gen11 and has significant configuration restrictions.

• Supported with the 4 LFF CTO model only.
• Processor wattage must be 125W or less.
• Two processors cannot be selected.
• The HPE DL3X0 Gen11 1U 2P Standard Fan Kit cannot be selected.
• A maximum of two Networking/InfiniBand adapters can be selected.
• x16 Networking/InfiniBand adapters cannot be selected.
• A maximum of eight memory modules can be selected.

800W Power Supplies

The DL360 Gen11 supports both Platinum and Titanium 800W Flex Slot power supplies.

The P38995-B21 is the HPE 800W Flex Slot Platinum Hot Plug Low Halogen Power Supply Kit. HPE lists the 800W Platinum family at 94% efficiency.

The 865438-B21 is the HPE 800W Flex Slot Titanium Hot Plug Low Halogen Power Supply Kit. HPE specifies 96% single-output efficiency for this model.

1000W Titanium Power Supply

The HPE 1000W Flex Slot Titanium Hot Plug Power Supply Kit P03178-B21 provides 1000W rated steady-state power. HPE specifies 96% single-output efficiency.

The technical specifications list a rated input range of 100-240 VAC. Rated steady-state output is 1000W at both 100 VAC and 240 VAC.

1600W Platinum Power Supply

The HPE 1600W Flex Slot Platinum Hot Plug Low Halogen Power Supply Kit P38997-B21 provides up to 1600W and is listed at 94% efficiency.

This power supply requires high-line 200-240 VAC input. The technical specifications list 1600W rated steady-state output at 240 VAC.

1800W-2200W Titanium Power Supply

The HPE 1800W-2200W Flex Slot Titanium Hot Plug Power Supply Kit P44712-B21 is the highest-output AC power supply listed for the DL360 Gen11. It provides 96% single-output efficiency and requires high-line 200-240 VAC input.

The available output varies with input voltage. HPE specifies 1799W rated steady-state output at 200 VAC, 2000W at 220 VAC, and 2200W at 240 VAC.

1600W -48VDC Power Supply

The HPE 1600W Flex Slot -48VDC Hot Plug Power Supply Kit P17023-B21 supports DC-powered data center environments. The technical specifications list an input range of -40 to -72 VDC and rated steady-state output of 1600W.

If the 1600W DC power supply is selected, HPE requires either the applicable DC PSU power cable kit or the DC PSU power lug option kit. The quantity of the selected connection accessory must match the quantity of DC power supplies.

-48VDC Power Supply Accessories

The QuickSpecs specifically list the following accessory for the 1600W -48VDC power supply.

HPE states that the 1600W DC PSU Power Lug Option Kit and the 1600W DC PSU Power Cable Kit cannot both be selected. One connection method must be chosen for the DC power supply configuration.

Power Supply Redundancy

The DL360 Gen11 configuration supports selection of one or two power supplies. Two different power supplies cannot be mixed in the same server. Therefore, a two-power-supply configuration must use matching supported power supply models.

Power supply capacity should be selected based on the actual server configuration rather than wattage alone. HPE recommends using HPE Power Advisor before selecting a power supply.

Input Voltage Requirements

The supported input voltage depends on the selected power supply. In particular, the 1600W Platinum and 1800W-2200W Titanium AC supplies require high-line power.

Power Cords

HPE ProLiant servers ship with an IEC-to-IEC power cord for rack mounting with Power Distribution Units. The standard 6-foot IEC C-13/C-14 jumper cord A0K02A is included with each standard AC power supply option kit.

If optional power cords are ordered, HPE states that the quantity must equal the total number of power supplies on the order.

European Union ErP Lot 9 Requirements

Beginning January 1, 2024, units sold into the European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, or Turkey must meet the efficiency requirements described by HPE for ErP Lot 9. HPE states that single-output power supplies must provide 96% efficiency for these configurations.

The QuickSpecs specifically identify 865438-B21, P03178-B21, and P44712-B21 as 96%-efficient Flex Slot power supplies meeting these requirements.

For non-EU ErP Lot 9 configurations, the QuickSpecs refer to the HPE CE Mark Removal FIO Enablement Kit P35876-B21 in the Factory Configuration Setting section.

BIS Certification

The QuickSpecs state that DL360 Gen11 CTO servers manufactured in Singapore with the following power supplies are certified with the Bureau of Indian Standards: 865408-B21, P38995-B21, P03178-B21, P17023-B21, P38997-B21, and P44712-B21.

Power Supply Output

The rated steady-state output varies by power supply and, for the 1800W-2200W model, by input voltage.

Power Supply Thermal Output

The QuickSpecs provide maximum British Thermal Unit ratings for power planning and data center cooling calculations.

Choosing a DL360 Gen11 Power Supply

Power supply selection should account for the complete server configuration. Processor count and TDP, memory population, storage, networking and InfiniBand adapters, GPUs, cooling, and other PCIe devices can all affect total power requirements.

The 500W option has particularly restrictive configuration rules and is limited to the 4 LFF CTO model with a single processor of 125W or less and no more than eight memory modules. Higher-output configurations can require 800W, 1000W, 1600W, or 1800W-2200W power supplies depending on the hardware selected. HPE recommends using its Power Advisor rather than choosing a PSU solely by nominal wattage.
