Bezel & Chassis Overview

The HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 is a 1U rack server available with 20 EDSFF, 8 SFF, or 4 LFF chassis configurations. Chassis selection determines the supported drive form factors and affects availability of front-panel options such as additional drive bays, optical drives, USB, and DisplayPort.

The QuickSpecs also identify optional physical security features including a Bezel Locking Kit and Chassis Intrusion detection. The QuickSpecs do not identify orderable part numbers for those two options.

DL360 Gen11 Chassis Types

HPE documents three primary chassis families for the DL360 Gen11. Each chassis is based on the same 1U rack form factor but supports a different front storage architecture.

20 EDSFF Chassis

The 20 EDSFF chassis provides 20 EDSFF Carrier 1T (EC1) drive bays supporting 32G x4 NVMe using PCIe 5.0 E3.S 1T devices.

The 20 EDSFF chassis is the DL360 Gen11 configuration specifically designed around the EDSFF storage architecture. Unlike the 8 SFF and 4 LFF configurations, the QuickSpecs do not list the optional optical-drive front configuration for the 20 EDSFF CTO server.

8 SFF Chassis

The 8 SFF chassis provides eight Basic Carrier drive bays supporting either 24G x1 NVMe/SAS Tri-Mode U.3 or 24G x4 NVMe/SAS Tri-Mode U.3 connectivity using PCIe 4.0.

The chassis can also support an optional additional 2 SFF Basic Carrier drive cage with 24G x4 NVMe/SAS Tri-Mode U.3 connectivity. Alternatively, the front expansion area can be used for the Universal Media Bay and optical-drive configuration.

4 LFF Chassis

The 4 LFF chassis provides four Low Profile drive bays supporting 12G x1 SAS/SATA connectivity. HPE also provides additional front options for an optical drive, USB, and DisplayPort.

Front Chassis & Media Options

The following orderable kits are the primary chassis-specific front-panel options identified in the QuickSpecs.

P48926-B21 Universal Media Bay

The HPE ProLiant DL3X0 Gen11 1U 8SFF DisplayPort/USB/Optical Drive Blank Kit P48926-B21 is identified by HPE as the Universal Media Bay for the 8 SFF CTO server.

The kit provides the chassis enablement used for the supported front DisplayPort, USB, and internal optical-drive configuration.

• Supported with the 8 SFF CTO server only.
• Maximum quantity is one per server.
• If an internal optical drive is selected for an 8 SFF model, P48926-B21 must be selected.
• The 2 SFF drive cage and optical-drive cage occupy alternative front expansion configurations; HPE allows a maximum of one of these choices per server.

8 SFF: Additional 2 SFF Bays vs. Universal Media Bay

The front expansion area of the 8 SFF chassis can be used for either the optional 2 SFF drive cage or the Universal Media Bay / optical-drive cage. HPE states that a maximum of one of these options can be selected per server.

This means an 8 SFF configuration requiring the additional 2 SFF drive bays cannot simultaneously use that same front expansion position for the P48926-B21 optical-drive/media-bay configuration.

P48928-B21 LFF DisplayPort/USB Kit

The HPE ProLiant DL3X0 Gen11 1U LFF DisplayPort/USB Kit P48928-B21 provides the documented front DisplayPort and USB option for the 4 LFF CTO model.

HPE specifically identifies P48928-B21 as supported with the 4 LFF CTO model only.

P48927-B21 System Insight Display Power Module Kit

The HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 SFF System Insight Display Power Module Kit P48927-B21 is an optional chassis accessory supported with the 8 SFF CTO model only.

The QuickSpecs place this kit under Management Hardware and allow a maximum of one of each listed management hardware option per server.

Front DisplayPort

The DL360 Gen11 provides a standard rear VGA port and supports an optional front DisplayPort. HPE documents the front DisplayPort as compliant with VESA DisplayPort Standard Version 1, Revision 1a.

For the 8 SFF configuration, the front DisplayPort is provided through the optional Universal Media Bay configuration. For the 4 LFF configuration, HPE identifies the DisplayPort/USB bundle kit.

The front DisplayPort and rear VGA output cannot be active simultaneously.

Optical Drive Chassis Requirements

The 8 SFF and 4 LFF chassis can support optional internal optical drives, but the installation requirements differ.

On an 8 SFF model, installation of a supported 9.5mm SATA DVD-ROM or DVD-RW requires the P48926-B21 Universal Media Bay kit. On a 4 LFF model, the supported internal optical drive requires the P48914-B21 LFF Optical Cable Kit.

Bezel & Physical Security Options

HPE lists two optional physical chassis-security features for the DL360 Gen11: a Bezel Locking Kit and Chassis Intrusion detection.

The DL360 Gen11 QuickSpecs confirms these features are available as options but does not identify orderable HPE part numbers for either option. Because no SKU is provided in this QuickSpecs, no part number is assigned to them here.

Chassis Dimensions

The DL360 Gen11 remains a 1U rack server, but chassis depth varies according to the front storage configuration.

HPE provides additional measurements showing the difference between the 8+2 SFF chassis and the longer 20 EDSFF / 4 LFF chassis.

Choosing a DL360 Gen11 Chassis

The chassis is more than a drive-size choice because it establishes the server's front storage architecture and affects which front-panel options can be installed.

• 20 EDSFF: designed around PCIe 5.0 E3.S NVMe storage.
• 8 SFF: supports U.3 Tri-Mode storage and can be expanded with either an additional 2 SFF drive cage or the Universal Media Bay configuration.
• 4 LFF: provides four 12G SAS/SATA LFF drive bays and supports the optional LFF DisplayPort/USB and optical-drive configuration.
