Rack, Rail & Cable Management Overview

The HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 is a 1U rack server with chassis-specific HPE Easy Install rail options and optional Cable Management Arms. The correct rail kit depends primarily on whether the server uses an 8 SFF, 4 LFF, or 20 EDSFF CTO chassis.

HPE rail kits use telescoping rails that allow in-rack serviceability. Cable Management Arms are separate options and are not included with the rail kits.

Compatible Rail & Cable Management Options

The DL360 Gen11 QuickSpecs list two Easy Install rail kits and two Cable Management Arm options.

Rail Kit Compatibility by Chassis

The DL360 Gen11 does not use the same Easy Install rail kit across all chassis configurations. HPE assigns the Rail 3 Kit to the 8 SFF CTO model and the Rail 5 Kit to the 4 LFF and 20 EDSFF CTO models.

P52341-B21 Easy Install Rail 3 Kit

The HPE ProLiant DL3XX Gen11 Easy Install Rail 3 Kit P52341-B21 is the rail option specified for the 8 SFF DL360 Gen11 CTO Server.

HPE identifies this rail kit as available for the 8 SFF CTO server when a rack configuration is selected. The rails are telescoping, allowing the server to be extended from the rack for in-rack serviceability.

P52343-B21 Easy Install Rail 5 Kit

The HPE Easy Install Rail 5 Kit P52343-B21 is specified for the 4 LFF and 20 EDSFF DL360 Gen11 CTO server configurations.

Like the Rail 3 Kit, the Rail 5 Kit uses telescoping rails for in-rack serviceability.

Rail 3 vs. Rail 5

The chassis configuration determines which rail kit HPE specifies for the DL360 Gen11. The Rail 3 and Rail 5 kits should not be treated as interchangeable choices for a given CTO chassis.

Cable Management Arms

HPE lists two optional Cable Management Arm choices for the DL360 Gen11: P70741-B21 and P26489-B21.

A Cable Management Arm is not included with the rail kit. If a CMA is selected, HPE requires that a rail kit also be selected.

P70741-B21 Cable Management Arm

The HPE Cable Management Arm 4 for Friction Rail Kit P70741-B21 is listed as an optional Cable Management Arm for the DL360 Gen11.

The QuickSpecs note that this is the same SKU used with the HPE ProLiant Compute DL360 Gen12 rail kit and describe it as providing ease of installation.

P26489-B21 Cable Management Arm

The HPE ProLiant DL300 Gen10 Plus 1U Cable Management Arm for Rail Kit P26489-B21 is also listed as an optional CMA for the DL360 Gen11.

Despite the Gen10 Plus naming in the product description, the DL360 Gen11 QuickSpecs explicitly list P26489-B21 as an available Cable Management Arm option.

Cable Management Arm Requirements

The Cable Management Arm is an accessory to the rail system rather than a standalone mounting solution.

• The rail kits do not include a Cable Management Arm.
• If a CMA is selected, a rail kit must also be selected.
• HPE lists P70741-B21 or P26489-B21 as optional CMA choices.
• The QuickSpecs state that a maximum of one of each listed accessory can be selected.

Telescoping Rails & In-Rack Serviceability

HPE states that the DL360 Gen11 rail kits contain telescoping rails. This design allows the server to extend from the rack for in-rack serviceability.

The Cable Management Arm is optional and must be ordered separately if cable organization is required while the server is extended on its rails.

Shelf-Mounted Rail Kits

The HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 does not support shelf-mounted rail kits, also described as L-bracket rails. The supported QuickSpecs options are the chassis-specific HPE Easy Install telescoping rail kits.

CTO Rail Kit Selection

HPE states that the supported rail kit is defaulted for a DL360 Gen11 CTO model in the configurator. A customer can deselect the rail kit when the CTO server is being ordered without a rack as a standalone server.

For rack-mounted configurations, the rail selection depends on chassis type: P52341-B21 for 8 SFF CTO or P52343-B21 for 4 LFF and 20 EDSFF CTO.

Rack Compatibility

HPE states that its rail kits are designed to work with HPE racks in compliance with the EIA-310-E industry standard.

The QuickSpecs caution that customers choosing a third-party rack do so at their own risk. HPE does not warrant the materials, design, specifications, installation, safety, or compatibility of third-party racks with HPE rail kits.

Rack Installation Guidance

HPE recommends a minimum of two people for all rack server installations. HPE also directs installers to the applicable installation instructions for the proper tools and number of people required for a specific installation.

HPE Rack & Power Infrastructure

Beyond the server-specific rails and Cable Management Arms, HPE identifies its broader Rack and Power Infrastructure portfolio for DL360 Gen11 deployments. The QuickSpecs reference HPE G2 Advanced and Enterprise Racks, HPE G2 PDUs, HPE Uninterruptible Power Systems, and HPE KVM Solutions.

HPE describes its G2 Advanced and Enterprise Racks as supporting enhanced airflow and thermal management, flexible cable management, and higher-density computing. The QuickSpecs state that these racks carry a 10-year warranty.
